About Me
Writing has been my passion since I was an editor of my high school newspaper. Even then, I was confident about my career path and dreamed of the places writing would take me.
I earned undergrad and graduate journalism degrees from Northwestern University. Shortly after that, I married my high school sweetheart, a Marine, and embarked on a reporting career that took me from coast to coast.
Some highlights:
- I was one of the first reporters to receive press credentials on Capitol Hill for an online environment.
- I received an "Excellence in Journalism" award from the Society of Professional Journalists in Hawaii for an Associated Press story about the painstaking process of identifying POW and MIA remains.
- As a San Diego Union-Tribune staff writer, one of my most memorable stories was shadowing a group that provides outreach to homeless teens by walking the streets and beaches to hand out supplies and encouragement.
After a decade in daily journalism, I switched gears and embraced the opportunity to write digital health content – even before "social media" and "blogs" were part of the online landscape. I'm dedicated to helping clients grow their markets and reach their customers through the power of the written word. I've continued to update my skills by attending conferences, webinars and earning certifications, including SEO and social media.
When I’m not writing, you can find me on a sports field cheering for my kids, rooting for my favorite college and pro teams, exercising or volunteering for schools or my church.
